Main Campus: DIA Headquarters
The NIU main campus is situated in the heart of the National Capitol Region, inside the Defense Intelligence Agency Headquarters on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C. The main campus is the central hub of all NIU academic, research, and outreach activities. It is the home of the College of Strategic Intelligence, the School of Science and Technology Intelligence, the Centers for Strategic Intelligence Research and International Engagement and the John T. Hughes Library, as well as classrooms, computer labs and all administrative offices. The main campus offers the widest range of academic programs including full-time graduate and undergraduate study, as well as part-time study in the evenings and on weekends.
NIU Academic Center at the National Security Agency
College Park, MD
Since 1991, NIU has partnered with the National Security Agency (NSA) to offer the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence (MSSI) degree program in a part-time format during normal working hours at the Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL) facility. Although most attendees at this campus are NSA civilian or military employees, classes are open to others as space allows.
NIU Academic Center at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
Since 2004, NIU has partnered with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to offer the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence degree program in a part-time format during normal working hours. Although most attendees at this campus are NGA civilian or military employees, classes are open to others as space allows.
NIU European Academic Center
NIU has partnered with the Joint Analysis Center, Molesworth, UK, to offer graduate classes and the MSSI degree program in a part-time format during off-duty hours.
NIU Southern Academic Center
In 2012, NIU established an academic center at the U.S. Central Command’s Regional Joint Intelligence Training and Education Facility (RJITEF) on MacDill Air Force Base. The NIU Southern Academic Center offers the MSSI degree program in a part-time format with classes held two evenings per week, usually Monday and Wednesday. Classes are available to qualified U.S. federal government civilians and active duty/reserve service members in the southern region, including personnel at the headquarters of U.S. Central Command, Special Operations Command and Southern Command. Classes are held at the RJITEF and made available via JWICS video-teleconferencing to eligible locations.
NIU Quantico Academic Center
In 2014, NIU established an academic center at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity. The NIU Quantico Academic Center offers part-time graduate study in the evenings for military and federal civilian intelligence professionals living or working in the Quantico region.
