To all prospective students and friends of NIU:
On July 1, 2026, National Intelligence University will transition from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to the Department of War, where we will join National Defense University as its National Intelligence College. This is an exciting time for NIU, but it is a major transition that requires considerable planning and coordination.
Work to integrate our full-time master's programs for AY2026-2027 is well under way. NIU accepted its class of full-time students from across the services, and from many intelligence and other federal agencies. However, we are still in the process of programming for our part-time graduate and certificate programs.
We understand that the many applicants to our part-time programs for AY2026-2027 are anxious for updates, and that many of you need to make plans depending on admission decisions; NIU will reach out to all admitted students as soon as we have a clear path forward. At that time, an announcement will appear on this page as well.
Our standard admission requirements, as described in this page's links to applications for our various programs, may also change with our move to NDU; we expect to update these as required in early fall 2026 for the AY2027-28 school year.
Thank you for your understanding and patience—we'll update you all as soon as we can!
