NIU’s Office of Research houses the Center for Strategic Intelligence Research, the National Intelligence Press, and the John T. Hughes Library.
The Office of Research provides direct support to the NIU education mission in several ways:
NIU Research Topics. The Office of Research helps coordinate research activity within the University, primarily by acting as a clearing house for strategic intelligence topics gathered from across the Intelligence Community, as well as from the NIU faculty.
NIU Thesis Database. The Office of Research maintains a repository of all theses written by NIU students, available on the classified JWICS system and in the John T. Hughes Library.
Brownbag Seminars & Discussions. Office of Research staff cover popular topics, such as publishing, thinking about Ph.D. programs, scoping research topics and research methodologies, and conducting research with human subjects. The Library hosts workshops on academic databases.
Online Resources. The Office of Research maintains an active list of writing and research resources available to students on the “Research Center” tab on both the JWICS and NIPR Blackboard systems.
