August 12, 2016

The National Intelligence University (NIU) celebrated an important milestone in late July as five students from the NIU Quantico Academic Center graduated from the University, thus becoming the first to complete the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence (MSSI) degree program at NIU’s newest academic center, located at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The five students completed their degrees while working full-time during the day and participating in the NIU’s structured two-year, part-time program in the evenings at the FBI Academy’s Intelligence and Investigative Training Center. The five graduates are representative of the diverse personnel from the 18 separate agencies and organizations that currently comprise the student body at the NIU Quantico Academic Center. NIU President David Ellison spoke of one of the new graduates in his commencements remarks, noting the student’s impressive career resume even before adding his MSSI degree.

Established in 2014, the NIU Quantico Academic Center builds on the success of NIU programs offered at the main campus in Washington, D.C., and at additional locations in Maryland, Northern Virginia, Florida, and Molesworth, United Kingdom. It offers the MSSI degree program in a part-time format with classes held two evenings per week and a certificate program in counterintelligence with classes held one evening per week. Classes are available to the large and diverse number of qualified U.S. federal government civilians and active duty/reserve service members who live or work in the vicinity of Marine Corps Base Quantico, including personnel from the FBI, United States Marine Corps, Defense Intelligence Agency, Drug Enforcement Administration, Defense Security Service, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and Army Criminal Investigation Command. “Our goal is to make intelligence education more accessible to working professionals,” said NIU President David Ellison “and we are proud that the Quantico Academic Center is already producing graduates who will serve as future leaders of the Intelligence Community in the years ahead!”

NIU is an accredited degree-granting institution whose main campus is located in Washington, D.C. Its faculty consists of subject matter experts from around the Intelligence Community who bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the classroom. NIU offers two master’s programs, a bachelor’s degree completion program, and specialized graduate certificates in intelligence topics. NIU’s graduates include many notable intelligence and national security leaders. For more information, visit www.ni-u.edu.
