Choose a Format to Fit Your Life

NIU students can earn a degree by attending classes, full-time (in-residence), over an 11-month academic year. This format is comprised of both the Master of Science of Strategic Intelligence (MSSI) and the Master of Science and Technology Intelligence (MSTI), in addition to the Bachelor of Science in Intelligence (BSI) completion program. These programs have unique requirements and require endorsement by the student’s home organization.

Weekends

Students attend classes one weekend a month (full day on Saturday and Sunday) for two years along with a two-week intensive summer session at ICC-B. Reservist/National Guard applicants must be nominated by their unit and must submit a signed memorandum by an O-6 in their chain of command with their application.

Evening

Students attend evening classes at ICC-B and typically complete the degree in two years. This format does not require a nomination from the student’s home organization.

Day

Students can attend classes during the day at ICC-B, based on course availability and with management approval. The supervisor approval form must be submitted with the application.
